1. General Tips for Protecting Your Custom Shoes
Here’s how to prevent damage before it starts:
-
- Avoid bad weather – Keep your customs out of rain, puddles, and mud. They’re sealed, but moisture and dirt can still wear them down faster.
- Don’t crease them up – Try not to bend or fold the toe box too much, especially if your design has detailed art there.
- Use a spray – We seal your shoes before shipping, but you can apply a clear sneaker protector every few months for extra protection.
2. How to Clean Your Merakicks
What You’ll Need:
-
-
- A soft brush or old toothbrush
- Mild soap (like dish soap or baby shampoo)
- Warm water
- A soft cloth or sponge
- Optional: Magic Eraser for rubber soles only
-
- Remove surface dirt: Gently brush off dust and dirt with a dry soft brush.
- Make a soapy mix: Add a drop of soap to warm water.
- Dampen your cloth: Dip a cloth or sponge into the mixture and gently clean the shoe’s painted surface. Don’t soak the shoe.
- Wipe clean: Use a clean, damp cloth to wipe off any soap.
- Air dry only: Let them dry naturally indoors, never use direct heat, hairdryers, or dryers.
DO NOT: Use bleach, harsh chemicals, or scrub aggressively, it can damage the artwork and sealant.
3. Soles Looking Grimy?
- Use a Magic Eraser to clean rubber soles, but avoid touching painted areas.
- For white midsoles, a mixture of baking soda and water can help lift stains.
